Dawn and Spencer met at an AA meeting in West Hollywood
on a Wednesday night after happy hour. They took one look, fell in love, got
married and lived happily ever after, sober or not. It was an unlikely match. Dawn
was a drop dead gorgeous Victoria’s Secret model, rich and established. Spencer,
well he was ugly and soft in the head, with only four fingers on one hand. But
fate, karma or happenstance stepped in to create magic for two lost souls.

Salad Dressing
Betty-Ann Folger wore baggy
red pedal pushers with a green blouse, her tiny feet in pink ballet slippers
and a red bow crowning her snowy hair. She slipped a bottle of Wishbone Italian
Dressing from under a chair cushion and told us, “Irene drinks this straight out
of the bottle. They had to pump her stomach last week and then they took away
her Jeopardy! privileges. Word is
they’re going to pull out all her teeth and that’s Irene in a nutshell.”

Skating
Lon and Tilly were motoring
across country and stopped in Kansas City for an hour of skating at Leo’s
Roll-Arena. They were enjoying a round of simple bobs and turns out on the
floor when an oily gentleman wearing fringe and a ‘Mr. Luigi’ name tag offered
to teach them skate dancing. Figuring why not, they began to follow his
directions, trying out a few spins and lifts. They finished with a grand leap
and Tilly in an ambulance with a broken leg.
