Row Boat

A juggler from Manhattan visited his astrologist upstate and being a city man was restless among all the trees. He decided to row across the lake and left his host to play with the stars. Half an hour out, the water in the boat was over his ankles and rising steadily. Within shouting distance of the shore, he screamed for his friend who ran out to the water and seeing the boat disappear, could only moan, “The omens were bad. It was in the cards.”
