Tommy and Glenn reached the top
of the trail by mid-morning, stopping at a tumble of large rocks to catch their
breath. They were comfortable with the timing, knowing there was time aplenty to
do what they’d planned carefully over the past three months. Everything would unfold
just as they imagined it. “The cabin is just over that rise. Let’s go.” Glenn
picked up the rifle, checked the load and followed Tommy stepping cautiously toward
the rise.
