Benny Pomroy fell in love at Keller’s Bar, a low dive on the crummiest stretch of Vine Street. Ten minutes after meeting Gunhild, a hardened Norwegian girl from Oslo Benny got fresh and she slapped him silly. That was all it took. He bought her a fresh drink, took her home and married her a week later. They moved down to Florida and bought a used-up motel on U.S. 1. Gunhild took up interior decoration and turned the motel into a rusty Shangri-La.
