Jema asked her husband to pass
the rolls then shocked him by saying, “There’s no easy way to say this but I’m
leaving you for a woman I met in Taos last year. It’s been a long-distance
thing up until now but I’ve decided to move there. She has a house…plenty of
money, and so…well, I don’t know what else to tell you. I’m filing for divorce
on the grounds of gender reassignment. The children are grown, I don’t need any
money. I hope you understand.
